Ms. Cheung has won the 2021 Distinguished Principal Leadership Award. This award is give each year to select principals across the city. Principals are nominated by their staff and the community. This is truly a great honor!

After graduating from Temple with a degree in elementary education, and prior to her current role as principal, Ms. Cheung served as a Multilingual Manager for the Office of Multilingual Curriculum and Programs, ESOL teacher for grades K-6, and itinerant ESOL teacher for grades K-12. She was also a self-contained 6th-grade teacher, where her best memories are moments she built community among her linguistically and culturally diverse classroom. Ms. Cheung further served as an English language learner school growth specialist and English teacher for primary grades (K-6) in Hong Kong, China. In 2019 she became a recipient of a Neubauer Fellowship in Educational Leadership. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership.

Outside of school, Ms. Cheung is a dedicated wife and mother of two young boys. She is fond of dining and shopping when she gets the chance, and has admitted to going “overboard” during the Christmas holidays with gifts and celebrations with an extended family. She and her family are also members of Lee’s Lion Club where her family continues the lion dance tradition. The club has regularly performed for the Key community.
