On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse moved across North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the sun. Key students and families saw the sky darken as if it were dawn or dusk. Even though the day was cloudy and visibility was low, everyone had fun, and different classes learned new things.
Safety is the number one priority when viewing a total solar eclipse. Students who were permitted to go outside wore specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing.
