Family and Community Stories Project

Read, watch, and listen to some of the stories told by our students, families, and community members.

Black History Month immigration posters - 2026

As a part of their Black History Month unit, students in second grade read Let the Children March by Monica Clark-Robinson which is a story set during the Birmingham Children’s Crusade in 1963. Students discussed the historical implications of this particular movement and made connections to the current day movement for immigrant’s rights. They learned that even kids as young as seven can organize to make the world a better place.
