The Key School Scrabble Club traveled to our first Scrabble tournament at St. Joseph’s University. Our students played against 6 other schools and gained valuable competitive experience. Some of our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders participated in the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania. These students raced a 300 yard shuttle run and ran 75 yards of a football field. We are so proud of them and how hard they have been working with our gym teacher, Ms. B!

This year, Key third grade joined the “Dream Team” of BalletX, an organiziation that provides a contemporary ballet experience. The performance was held at the Mandell Theatre. After many months of practice, our third graders looked like professional dancers. Great job third grade!
“Read Across America” week was celebrated at Key. There were many activities scheduled. Students were able to make their own bookmarks on Monday, wear clothes that represented their favorite sports team on Tuesday, read the same book on Wednesday, attend the Key “Book Cafe” on Thursda, and enjoy “Pajama Day” on Friday. Our school acknowledged and celebrated Black History Month with many activities. Some of these activities included Read-Alouds by guest readers, a musical program, speeches from students about significant historical events in Black history, and a door decorating contest.
We were so excited yet again to host the Philadelphia Suns at Key school for a performance of the Lion Dance. The Lion Dance is said to bring good fortune and good luck. Whether it does or not, everyone had a great time!
